If you like country house weddings, then you love Lyndsey and Ian’s coral themed summer wedding at the West Tower Aughton, Ormskirk in Lancashire.

The couple met each other at work and have been together for 18 years. They are got engaged, twice! With Ian first proposing after their first child Josh was born and then a second time whilst on a romantic on holiday in Crete…

Here is their West Tower wedding story…

Bride and groom doorway of Country house wedding venue West Tower Aughton wedding

The day began with Lyndsay getting ready in the beautiful West Tower Bridal Suite with all the girls and her Mum, there was such a happy vibe. The big window in the bridal suite is perfect for the make-up shots and for capturing the last minute bridal preparations. With lots of natural light streaming through the window, it makes for the perfect frame for a back of the dress shot.

Lynsday wore Morille by Madeline Gardner. A white lace detail mermaid style wedding dress, with a low cut back. Purchased from Brides World in Liverpool. The perfect wedding dress was complemented with shoes from her favourite designer Jimmy Choo and a beautiful rustic bouquet.

The ceremony took place inside the main ballroom within The West Tower Aughton. The ceremony area was filled with an array of flowers including peonies, roses, hydrangeas, gypsophila, which was so perfect because Lyndsay wanted a mixture of all the flowers that her Dad loved.

The ceremony began with Lyndsay’s Mum walking her down the aisle and finished with a big cheer from everyone. It was a classic ceremony, full of nervous giggles and excited hand squeezes.

After the ceremony, we did some family photos on the West Tower steps, which didn’t take long at all. Then we went down on to the fields for the portrait photos, this is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it all sink in.

I got some really special candid photos outdoors – with beautiful views of the Lancashire countryside and everyone sitting on the terrace. The weather was fresh and sunny, which I loved because it allowed time for the guests to indulge in the outdoor fun games that the couple had arranged, this included archery and space hoppers.

Lyndsay and Ian chose to have their wedding at West Tower Aughton because of the beautiful scenic views, and because it’s close to their home. The West Tower Aughton is a stunning country house in Ormskirk, Lancashire which is just down the road from Liverpool. The venue looks like a mini castle and it’s got such a romantic vibe, especially in the evenings when the sun goes down.

For the reception, the couple organised a cocktail drinks reception and lawn games for their guests, and everyone had so much fun – ‘I think the adults enjoyed the games more than the kids.’ Everyone was then called in for the wedding breakfast, which was a roast dinner. It was absolutely delicious (thank you).

They had the speeches before the dinner, which I find works really well as I tend to get better reaction shots when everyone is hungry. The speeches were really touching – with lots of emotional reactions and a photo frame containing a picture of Lyndsay’s Dad took pride of place on the main table.

After the meal was finished, they cut the cake and partied into the late hours with the DJ keeping everyone entertained. One of the things I love most about the West Tower Aughton is the stunning sunsets that eclipse the back garden and terrace. So before the night time guests arrived, Lyndsay and Ian had a little wonder around the grounds and got some beautiful relaxed portraits of just the two of them that made for a perfect ending in their wedding album.

Wedding tip! The couple says that if you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is  – “Relax and enjoy the day and make sure you have Wes Simpson photograph your wedding, you will not be disappointed. We will be looking at these photos for the rest of our lives.” –Lyndsey
