Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022
Wes Simpson Weddings crowned wedding photographer of the year 2022 at the English wedding awards in Manchester.
Monday night was a magical night for me, not only as a wedding photographer, but also for my professional and personal development. After a difficult few years, I was honoured to be awarded wedding photographer of the year 2022 at the English Wedding Awards in Manchester.
This was my 4th time as a finalist for Wedding photographer of the Year, and the first time that I’ve won. Hopefully, it’s a sign that the wedding industry is getting back on its feet and better things to come for us all.
On the night I was awarded Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 North region. And I am delighted to announce that I was also awarded Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 – overall winner for the UK.
Here are some highlights from a fantastic night in Manchester…
Wedding Industry Celebrating In Manchester
The event was fantastic, a black-tie affair at Manchester’s Mercure hotel. The evening was extremely well-organized, and all touchpoints were extremely professional.
The evening featured an arrival greeting from Lisa and the Oceanic Events team, professional photos, a delicious three-course meal, networking opportunities, and impressive crystal engraved trophies.
And I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been named Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 – North Regional Winner. This would have been enough, I thought, job done! I’m not going home empty-handed.
I was then invited to take the stage with the other regional finalists… The second round of nominations followed, and I was named Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 – Overall Winner!

“And the winner is… Wes Simpson,” the lady said as we stood on stage.
I felt like I was watching a reply to a movie. This isn’t just my ego speaking. But, I am convinced that my pain and suffering over the last two years must have served a greater purpose.
“We grow as a result of our experiences!”
After a difficult few years and then deciding to study life coaching, I believe that being named Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 would provide me with additional credibility and allow me to impact the lives of others through my work.
So when the lady called out my name, it was a feeling of more than just being named Wedding Photographer of the Year 2022 overall winner; it felt like fate or destiny! We reap what we sow.
