Trenderway Farm Wedding Photography

Brooke and Daniels luxury barn wedding photography story. Trenderway Farm wedding and events venue, Looe, Cornwall.

I was overjoyed when Brooke (an alternative, tattooed British American bride) and Daniel (a Royal Navy Officer) contacted me to be their Trenderway Farm wedding photographer.

I know this wedding would be a lot of fun because I photographed Daniel’s brother’s wedding – Michael and Jenna at 30 James Street in Liverpool.

I was recommended to the couple because they wanted a mix of natural and creative documentary wedding photography to capture the true story of their wedding in Cornwall. That is precisely my area of expertise.

Originally, I was scheduled to photograph the couple’s dream of a large fairytale castle wedding, but due to numerous Covid cancellations, the couple took charge of the situation and chose a small and intimate luxury barn wedding at Trenderway Farm in Cornwall…

Luxury Barn Wedding Venue in Cornwall

Arriving for the long weekend, I had the opportunity to explore Trenderway Farm and take in the sights and sounds of Looe and Polperro in Cornwall before the wedding.

Trenderway Farm wedding and events venue, nestled amongst fields near Looe on Cornwall’s South Coast, is a tranquil and peaceful place to have your wedding day. It was clear to see why Brooke and Daniel chose this intermit, private venue while strolling around the grounds and exploring the barns.

Trenderway Farm Weddings provided the couple with everything they required for an exclusive, luxury barn wedding. Beautiful rustic grounds, vista views of rolling fields, and proximity to Looe providing a stress-free, iconic backdrop for their wedding photos in Cornwall.

Here is their Trednerway Farm wedding photography story…

Trenderway Farm Wedding in Looe, Cornwall

Hi, we are Brooke and Danielle Wrigglesworth and this is our Trenderway Farm wedding photography story. I work for the NHS as a Mental Health Nursing Assistant and Daniel is a Royal Navy Officer.

Daniel is originally from Liverpool. However, my life story is a little more complicated. I am originally British but have spent most of my life living in different countries around the world. I called Los Angeles my home for the majority of that time and have the accent to go along with it.

We met on a dating website when I was down in Plymouth visiting my grandad and when Daniel was completing his officer training in Dartmouth.

For the proposal, Daniel had made posters of all the memorable times we shared together and placed them around the flat. When I got home from work, there were flower petals leading me to our living room where he stood holding a box ready to get down on one knee.

Luxury Barn Wedding Venue in Cornwall

Our summer wedding took place at Trenderway Farm, Looe in Cornwall. The luxury barn venue was perfect and so beautiful to accommodate our small wedding with just our family and friends for the weekend.

Covid has put a downer on many situations in life, however, having restrictions on the number of people meant we could have our loved ones share this special occasion for more than just a day.

Wedding Theme

We didn’t necessarily have a specific wedding theme. The barn we got married in made it the perfect setting without having to add a lot of extras.

We had 3 bridesmaids, 2 best men and 19 guests.

I wore Blue by Enzoani. My wedding dress is called Marla. It was an elegant off-shoulder mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline and ruched fabric at the side. My dress also had a detachable statement bow. I got my dress at the White Collection in Clevedon, Bristol.

Daniel wore his Navy uniform (which looked epic) and the boys wore a classic black and white tux. The bridal party wore long flowy dresses in raspberry colour with flower detail on one of the straps.

Planning a Barn Wedding in Cornwall

Originally, we planned to have a big romantic fairytale style wedding in a castle. We were sadly one of those couples that had to cancel our wedding due to Covid and start again when things opened up.

When planning for our new wedding date, we both felt it would be more special to make a weekend out of it rather than celebrating for one day. In the end, we went for a barn style wedding.

Getting married at Trenderway Farm, we utilised the natural characteristics of the venue adding candles, fairy lights and flowers for decoration. It was all simple and stress-free.

Entertainment

Due to Covid restrictions, we weren’t able to have much entertainment. However, the venue played music in the background whilst a few very competitive games of Corn Hole were played. We highly recommend playing it! It’s a simple game but provides loads of fun!

Cornwall Wedding Photography

Our wedding was amazing from start to finish so it’s very difficult to pinpoint any specific moments. If I had to choose then going into the village of Looe as a newly married couple and taking pictures would be the top choice.

We took the opportunity to have some wedding photography in Looe, Cornwall and we received such overwhelmingly kind and positive responses from the people in the village. It definitely made the experience much more special and one to remember forever.

I highly recommend that newly married couples take some time out of their busy schedule to get some photos in a different location. It makes for amazing memories and gives them an opportunity to embrace the incredible commitment they’ve made to each other without distractions.

Wedding Photos in Looe

Daniel and I along with our photographer Wes nipped off just before sunset into the Village of Looe. It was Wes who suggested this, and we are so glad we listed to his suggestion.

Having wedding photography in Cornwall with such an iconic backdrop made for a wonderful experience. We walked around Looe and got some relaxed portraits together. Not only was it nice to spend some alone time together, but we also created some additional memories.

Our guests didn’t even notice we had gone, so when we got back to the venue we had a ball telling everyone about our little adventure.

Wedding Photographer Recommendation

We ABSOLUTELY! Recommend Wes Simpson Weddings to photograph your day. Wes is amazing at what he does and really took the time to ensure that we had a fun relaxed day.

On the wedding day, he focuses on capturing the ‘natural’ moments. These are what make great pictures and mean the most when you look back at your photos.

His friendliness and genuine interest in getting to know us as people made him easy to work with. Plus I think it’s safe to say that our wedding day won’t be the last time we see Wes ☺

Favourite Picture

There were so many amazing pictures (THANKS WES!), that it was hard to narrow it down to just one. All of the pictures we took in Looe were definitely top of the list.

After the wedding, Wes provided an online gallery so it was easy to print, download and share all our wonderful pictures with family and friends from around the world.

We ordered a beautiful bespoke storybook wedding album and a set of parent books to complete the collection. Wes designed the album in-house and we were involved every step of the way before the album was printed in Italy.

The album is absolutely perfect! Thank you, Wes.

Luxury Barn Wedding Venue in Cornwall

Trenderway Farm was a fantastic choice for a luxury barn wedding in Cornwall. The venue offered Award Winning 5 Star Cornish Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, quirky on-site accommodation options and indoor and outdoor space.

As well as a stunning rustic backdrop for photographs, Trenderway Weddings provided friendly and experienced wedding coordinators and in-house caterers were available to assist in creating the perfect day.

Tips for future couples planning a wedding

The best tip we can give is to keep it simple and keep it small. Pick a venue that is full of characteristics naturally and that doesn’t require loads of decorations.

Ladies if you’re like me and have trouble making up your mind, the amount of wedding decorations on the internet is a nightmare and I was forever changing my mind.

The natural features of the barn meant that candles and flowers were all we needed. Covid restrictions obviously made a lot of the decisions for us as well but we truly wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Small weekend getaway wedding in Cornwall

Your wedding day goes so fast. We highly recommend having a weekend getaway wedding to extend the celebrations with the people that matter the most to you.

We found that by having fewer people, we were able to relax a lot more during the wedding and spend quality time with each guest throughout the day.

The anxiety about having the perfect wedding is fierce! Simplify your choices, be confident with your decisions, and have fun planning!

The day will go by incredibly quickly so make sure your mind isn’t preoccupied with the ‘what-ifs. I hope this helps and congrats on getting married!

Best of luck – Brooke and Daniel.
