Natalie and John’s Majestic Lake District Wedding

Wedding photography The Belsfield Laura Ashley Hotel

Natalie and John’s wedding photography story from The Belsfielf Laura Ashley Hotel, Lake Windermere.

Few places are more romantic or visually breathtaking than the English Lake District and it’s always a pleasure to photograph weddings in this beautiful part of the world.

Natalie and John’s wedding took place at The Belsfield, which is an idyllic Laura Ashley Hotel situated in Bowness on Windermere in the Lake District. It was a typical wet British summers day but that didn’t dampen the love, laughter and romance…

Here is there story…

Wedding Photography The Belsfield Hotel

Wedding at The Belsfield

I guess they call it “The Lake District” for a reason! A wet British summers day set the scene at The Belsfield, this was complemented with breathtaking views of the Lake District countryside which made for some fun portraits after the ceremony.

The day began with Natalie getting ready in the ‘four-poster bridal suite’ at The Belsfield – Laura Ashley Hotels. The room is sophistically decorated and in keeping with the Laura Ashley brand.

As a wedding photographer, I loved the big bay window which gave panoramic views of Lake Windermere and provided natural light and a perfect setting for makeup and preparation photographs.

Once Natalie was fully ready an emotional Dad came to collect her. Standing in front of the big bay window in her Ronald Joyce A-line sweetheart designer wedding dress, she looked beautiful and as you can see from the pictures it made for a memorable moment.

Lake District wedding photographer

Natalie and John chose me as their Lake District Wedding Photographer via recommendation after I photographed Katy and Jon’S wedding at The West Tower Country House in Lancashire.

They were looking for relaxed but professional Lake District wedding photography and a photographer who would be able to photograph their day naturally and capture key moments without too much posing.

After viewing my portfolio, they contacted me to be their Lake District Wedding photographer. I love photographing weddings in the Lake District and always welcome the short 50-minute drive up the M6 to photograph weddings here.

Steeped in natural beauty and surrounded by majestic mountains, wild-grass moors and let’s not forget the shimmering lakes, all of which make this iconic part of the world a wonderful setting for your wedding photography and for a truly memorable location for your celebrations.

The Belsfield Laura Ashley Hotel

Natalie and John’s wedding took place the whole day at The Belsfeild Hotel, which is situated is just down the road from Bowness village in the heart of Bowness On Windermere in The Lake District.

Also, know as The Laura Ashley Hotel, The Belsfield is a fashion and home furnishings inspired boutique hotel set inside a sophisticated Victorian mansion.

The Belsfield Hotel is a unique Lake District wedding venue surrounded by 6 acres of landscaped gardens and incredible views of Lake Windermere which make for a perfect backdrop for candid wedding photos throughout the day and for scenery portraits of the bride and groom.

There is also plenty of photographic opportunities inside the venue which showcases the elegance of Laura Ashley. Each room showcases the signature style of this much-loved fashion and interiors brand, famed for its muted palette and timeless prints.

The Windermere suite

The couple were married in The Windermere suite which looks out directly over Lake Windermere. It was a beautiful ceremony with touching moments of emotion and laughter.

John and the groomsmen looked dapper in top hats (which you don’t see enough these days). Bridesmaids wore matching light mint green dresses and instead of a pageboy they had a ‘chimney sweep’ – which the little boy loved.

Wedding reception

After the wedding ceremony, guests sipped champagne in the glowing Lounge Bar, which takes pride of place in the centre of the Belsfield, Laura Ashley hotel. It was still wet outside so a canapé selection was handed out in the drawing-room.

The Belsfield’s striking all-glass reception area provided the light and space for those all-important photographs of the bride and groom with loved ones.

As you can see from the pictures – it’s safe to say, the rain didn’t dampen the day. The Belsfield provided lots of photographic opportunities and it was a real joy to photograph Natalie and John’s wedding at the Laura Ashley Hotel.
