If you like rustic weddings then you’ll love Jane and Tony’s Sandhole Oak Barn wedding photography story. A beautiful Cheshire countryside wedding featuring rustic style wedding decor, a beautiful Modeca bridal gown, live music and stunning lakeside views.

This was a unique and privileged experience for me as it was the middle wedding of two brothers and sister from the same family who’s a wedding I’d be photographing.

I’ve known Jane for quite some time, she was a guest at my first ever wedding 13 years ago at Langdale Chace in the Lake District. I photographed her brother Paul’s wedding to Louise four years ago at Briars Hall in Burscough in which Jane was a bridesmaid. I’m also photographing Jane’s other brother, Micheal’s destination wedding in Ibiza next year.

The newlyweds wanted natural documentary style wedding photography and chose Wes Simpson Weddings because that is exactly my speciality.

By choosing me to photograph their day, the couple wasn’t away from their family and friends for too long. Nothing was staged or over posed and every photo is a true insight into their wedding and a timeless reminder of the best day of their life.

Here is their story…

Jane and Tony Wish; originally from Skemelmersdale and Ellesmere Port met through a friend. They got married at Sandhole Oak Barn, Congleton in Cheshire.

The couple chose this exclusive wedding venue as they wanted a rustic barn style wedding and Sandhole came up first on a Google search within the local area. It was also the first venue the couple viewed and instantly knew it was the one.

Jane wore a beautiful Modeca wedding gown which was purchased from Clare Suzanne bridal. She looked stunning in her Ivory low cut back dress which was complimented with cap sleeves, sparkling tulle and lace appliqués down to the train.

Tony wore grey Paul Smith suit, pink tie and brown Barker brogues. The bridesmaids wore matching complimentary dresses with pink and cream roses.

The couple planned a romantic rustic themed wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn with pinks and creams, hessian and wooden decor. They kept it personal and intermit with around 60 guests in the day and approx 100 in total for the evening.

The afternoon wedding took place inside Sandhole Oak Barn with the couple facing panoramic views of the lake. The ceremony was short and sweet with a personal reading by a friend which summed up the couple perfectly. They also had a fantastic choir before, during and after the ceremony.

Surrounded by acres of countryside and a stunning lake, Sandhole Oak Barn made for the perfect backdrop for Jane and Tony’s rustic themed wedding photographs. The staff were really helpful and the food was amazing, making this one of the best wedding barn venues in the country.

The couple said that their biggest tip for anyone planning a wedding would be to use a spreadsheet and have deadlines! Use something like Trello to keep you on track. Enjoy it and don’t get stressed out planning!

“Wes, I’m absolutely 110% recommending you for anyone’s special day! You’ve been amazing from the very start. Listened to exactly what we want and then shared your years of experience to make sure we got the best from our day. I’m already loving the sneak previews and can’t wait for the whole day to be shown back to us.”

“Nothing was too much trouble and you went above and beyond, helping to make the day run smoothly for us. If I could do it all over again, I’d be booking you again! Wes, thank you so much. Jane and Tony x “

The couple had two main speeches at the beginning of the wedding breakfast, starting with an emotional and heartwarming speech from Tony. The mood was then lightened with the best man taking the ‘mick’ out of the groom which involved massive look-alike novelty cards and embarrassing photos of childhood haircuts. Both speeches were upstaged when Jane’s nephew took to the mic and bravely said a few words.

The food here is always amazing, making this one of the best wedding barn venues in the country. The couple treated guests to 3-course meal which was complemented with an individual cake selection from Jane and Tony’s favourite sweets. This was displayed with a rustic theme setting and a magnificent cheese board during the evening reception.

*Sidenote: There is often more energy in the room when speeches are before the main mean, and your beautifully decorated tables will also look better in the pictures.

Just before the night time guests arrived we took advantage of a stunning sunset which was just disappearing behind the trees within the grounds at Sandhole Oak Barn. The couple wanted to remember their day exactly how it was through their photo’s. So we headed outside for a couple of relaxed portraits of just the two of them.

Jane and Tony commented that this was one of their favourite moments throughout the day, a simple moment to themselves which provided just enough time to stop and reflect before then day ran away from them.

The couple had a photo-booth and a live band in the evening which got everyone going. The band played the couple’s favourite song for the first dance and Tony (who is an accomplished guitar player) got in on the action and performed a personal routine with his one of his best friends.
