In Kerry’s own words, here’s a glimpse into their unforgettable wedding in the city of Liverpool…
From our first Zoom meeting, we knew Wes was the perfect Shankly Hotel wedding photographer for us. His professionalism and friendly demeanour made us feel at ease.
St Georges Hall and Liverpool Shankly Hotel Wedding
Hi, we’re Kerry and Michael Stanton. This is our St George’s Hall and Liverpool Shankly Hotel wedding story. I’m an administrator at a primary school and Michael is a client service officer at a debt recovery agency. We’ve been together for 16 years.
I first met Mike at a party while dating his friend. We hit it off instantly, much to my ex’s dismay. After we split, Mike persistently asked me out. Our first proper date was dinner, drinks, and dancing in Liverpool. The rest is history.
A Spooky Proposal
Mike proposed on Halloween 2018. He transformed our house into a candlelit haven, dressed as Count Dracula, with “Don’t Fear the Reaper” playing. I came home as Wednesday Addams to find pumpkins carved with “Will you” and a ring. I said, “Of course I will.”
Shortly after we started planning our St Georges Hall and Liverpool Shankly Hotel wedding.
Liverpool St George’s Hall Wedding Ceremony
We got married in Liverpool and we chose St George’s Hall for its grand, historic charm. Our reception at the Shankly Hotel was the perfect Scouse celebration. The wedding took place on the May bank holiday weekend, which gave everyone an extra day to recover from the celebrations.
After the wedding ceremony, we made use of St Georges Hall’s famous steps for family photos and we had a walk through the gardens on the way back to Liverpool Shankly Hotel with our wedding photographer Wes capturing us along the way.
The photography was very natural and informal. It was more about capturing memories, than posing for photos, which is exactly what we wanted.
During the ceremony we exchanged rings and we had an extra one made to include our son Hendrix and to celebrate us being a family.
Liverpool Shankly Hotel Wedding Reception
Our wedding day began and ended at the Liverpool Shankly Hotel. My dad arrived on a Harley Davidson for a grand entrance, and I rode to St George’s Hall in style. We had a beautiful ceremony followed by a reception at the Liverpool Shankly Hotel with 44 guests.
Our Liverpool Shankly Hotel wedding colour scheme was sage, black, and gold, featuring foliage instead of flowers and Tarot cards as table names.
I wore two vintage dresses from Vintage Lane Bridal, Bolton, and Mike wore a tailored suit from Slaters, Liverpool. We left St George’s Hall in matching black denim jackets, one saying “Until death” and the other “do us part.”
