Beth and Keith’s real wedding story from Lindos, Rhodes, Greece. 

A US Bride and a UK Groom tie the knot in spectacular style with a beachfront Lindos wedding celebration on the Greek island of Rhodes!

St Pauls Bay was the perfect setting for Beth & Keith’s Lindos wedding as for this adventurous globe-trotting couple, a destination wedding in Greece brought their UK and US families together for a week-long celebration that included a pre-wedding boat party around the Greek Island.

The wedding ceremony took place just before sunset. The couple said “I-Do” outside the cutest little white chapel before walking barefoot along St Paul’s Bay to their wedding reception.

DESTINATION WEDDING LINDOS GREECE

A typical wedding was never going to do for this globetrotting couple who wanted to find a neutral location for Beth’s friends and family from the U.S. and Keith’s family and friends from the UK.

Since the couple loves to travel, deciding on a destination wedding was an easy decision and they landed on Lindos, a small town on the island of Rhodes, Greece after perusing picturesque images of destination weddings in Greece on Google.

Although Lindos is a small village, it’s a popular wedding destination with UK couples. There are many things to do and see when you get there. Lindos is very picturesque with white houses, two beautiful beaches within walking distance and a very important archaeological site, the Acropolis of Lindos.

Lindos is on the east coast of the island. It is about 40 km south of the town of Rhodes and its fine beaches, markets, bars and restaurants make it a popular tourist, holiday and wedding destination.

A 50-minute taxi ride from Rhodes airport is by far the most convenient way to travel to Lindos. Lindos is situated in a large bay and faces the fishing village and small resort of Charaki.

ABOUT THE COUPLE

American Beth and Englishman Keith first met in Las Vegas, though not as wild as it would seem! They were both there on business at a trade show and, though they might have met in normal circumstances, they’ve been adding excitement to each other’s lives ever since!

The way Keith proposed to Beth shows just how excited they are about experiencing life together! Keith woke Beth up at 5:00 am on a Friday and would only tell her that she needed to pack because they were going away for the weekend.

Then they flew to Jamaica and Keith proposed on the beach the very next evening. After knowing how adventurous they are together and how much they love to travel, a romantic destination wedding on an island in Greece only made sense!

PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING IN LINDOS

A romantic destination wedding on an island in Greece turned into an exciting week-long wedding adventure complete with a pre-wedding boat party!

With friends and family jetting in from different parts of the world, the couple wanted to focus on bringing everyone together so they could feel comfortable with each other while enjoying the beautiful island.

Destination weddings are a great way to celebrate the start of a new life together with romantic travels, but it can also pose challenges when it comes to planning.

Fortunately, the couple hired Katia from Golden Apple Weddings who has been planning wedding and events on the island of Rhodes for years, so she helped organize the week including accommodations to make sure the two families experienced all the amazing sightseeing and excitement this island wedding location had to offer.

“I am so thankful for Golden Apple Weddings because aside from one measly Pinterest board, I was not one of those girls who had always dreamed about an envisioned my wedding. They brought everything to life.” – Beth

WEDDING PREPARATIONS RHODES

The wedding day began with Keith and the boys treating themselves to a real, traditional Turkish shave whilst Beth and the girls got ready at their luxury villa.

Beth remarked “We had a compilation of favourite music playing, snacks and drinks to nibble on whilst we got our hair and makeup done. I wanted to make the bridal preparations with my family and friends as much a part of the wedding as everything else.”

Even though Beth’s Dad was close by a decision was made to keep him and Beth’s brother in a separate part of the villa. Once Beth’s Mum had finished helping her into the dress she walked outside to the pool area for ‘bridal reveal’ which was a really touching moment between father and daughter and made the wait worthwhile.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR A LINDOS WEDDING

Beth doesn’t describe herself as a typical bride, because she would’ve just ordered a plain white dress online and called it a day if her mother hadn’t insisted she search for the perfect wedding dress in a traditional store.

Still, her focus was on a dress that would keep her cool and comfortable in the Lindos summer heat and she looked effortlessly breathtaking in her Essence Of Australia wedding gown!

Beth loved Keith’s linen suit with his bowtie and suspenders and pointed out that she’s learned a bowtie is a dickie bow and suspenders are braces, just another reminder of the American/British joining of families!

Keith says he simply chose the colour blue for his jacket because he’s a massive fan of Everton football club. Simple!

SUNSET WEDDING CEREMONY ST PAULS BAY

The scene was truly amazing when Beth and Keith said, “I do,” in front of friends and family as the sun disappeared behind the awe-inspiring mountains along St. Paul’s Bay. When asked about a highlight of the wedding day, they both described the moment they saw the other before they stood together ready to exchange vows.

Keith remembers Beth walking down the hill to St Paul’s Bay chapel and Beth’s favourite part was seeing Keith standing there holding her bouquet of flowers which is given as a gift from the groom to the bride as part of traditional Greek wedding traditions.

“For me, the best part of the day was seeing Keith for the first time as walked down the hill.  It is a strange thing on such an important day of your life to not see and interact with the person that you love most… I missed him!” – Beth

DRINKS, DANCING AND CELEBRATING LOVE BY THE SEA

Beth and Keith’s family and friends had been celebrating this new adventure all week, but the reception in St. Paul’s Bay was the long-awaited event and it started with cocktails and dancing, continued through a well-utilized open bar, and lasted into the early hours ending with their guests in the sea!

The truly unique wedding reception was themed with shabby chic decor and rustic charm at every turn. Personalised jam jars, bespoke place holders and a sparkler infused first dance and father-daughter dance as the sunset was simply magical.

If Beth could give any future Brides reading this a little bit of advice it would be –

“The most important thing is that it is about you and the person you are promising to spend your life with and that is all that truly matters.” – Beth

LINDOS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

As I am a UK based destination wedding photographer, I travelled from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Lindos for 5 nights. This was to include travel days, a pre-wedding planning meeting in Lindos. A pre-wedding boat party and the wedding day itself.

Not only did the couple love my style and approach to wedding photography they liked the idea of being able to deal with me before and after the wedding. Leaving their Lindos wedding photography to chance was never an option for this glob-trotting couple.

After the wedding, the couple received an online gallery showcasing all of their wedding pictures. They can share, print and download all the images with ease.
