Brogan and Matthew’s chic and unique Welsh wedding at The Kinmel Hotel, Abergele.
From the moment I met Brogan and Matthew, I knew they’d make the perfect clients. They wanted wedding photography that would allow them to be true to themselves whilst enjoying their wedding at The Kinmel Hotel.
Their fantastic style and wonderful personalities guaranteed a wow-factor wedding. The wedding itself was one big party from start to finish – in fact; I think I enjoyed it as much as their guests did!
Here is their story…
WEDDING AT THE KINMEL HOTEL
After much research, Brogan and Matthew decided on the location for their wedding. They planned to tie the knot at St Thomas’ Church in Rhyl and celebrate their marriage at The Kinmel Hotel & Spa in Abergele.
“We knew we’d chosen the right venue as we’d celebrated a lot of family occasions there in the past,” explains Brogan. “It had everything we needed for a perfect day.”
Choosing the right photographer and videographer was also high on the couple’s list of priorities. “We were more than happy to pay the extra money for someone amazing because it’s the photos and video that store all those precious memories,” says Brogan.
“We were lucky enough to find out about Wes through a family friends Jodie and Spencer, he had photographed their wedding at Soughton Hall and he certainly didn’t disappoint,” she adds. “We loved his natural style and how he captured each moment as it happened.”
WEDDING ST THOMAS CHURCH RHYL
Brogan and Matthew’s spring wedding took place at St Thomas’ Church in Rhyl. Their traditional ceremony also featured a barbershop quartet – setting the tone for the couple’s unique style and laid back wedding day. “They were so good and really got the crowd going,” smiles Brogan.
With the formalities over, the couple and their wedding guests went on to celebrate at The Kinmel Hotel & Spa. They began their reception with drinks and fed guests with canapés and candy floss whilst the barbershop quartet played party-pleasing tunes.
RONALD JOYCE WEDDING GOWN
When it came to their wedding attire, Brogan and Matthew opted for classic outfits to reflect their stylish wedding and personalities. There was no doubt in Brogan’s mind as to her perfect gown – even though it was completely opposite to what she’d expected.
“I thought I’d go for a big dress but ended up choosing a slim Ronald Joyce gown, which featured a cowl back and a detailed bodice,” explains Brogan. “My mum, nan and myself all cried when we saw it – we just knew it was ‘the one’,” she smiles.
Matthew opted for something unique and bright. His multi-toned bright blue suit, from Next, was perfect for the couple’s day and sure to reflect their unique and cool style. “He looked very handsome – I was really happy with his choice,” said Brogan.
WEDDING DÉCOR AT THE KINMEL HOTEL
In keeping with the venue and the couple’s classic style, Brogan and Matthew opted for simple yet beautiful wedding décor. “We wanted to keep it classy, sleek and cool – so we kept everything quite minimal where we could,” says Brogan.
Avoiding too much colour, the pair styled The Kinmel Hotel & Spa with a chic colour palette of silvers, whites and subtle greens. The couple were also keen to add their own personal touch to the venue. “We didn’t really want to do anything that anyone had done before – whether it was the music or the flowers,” explains Brogan.

The fun-loving couple followed their bridal party by walking into the wedding reception to “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch.” They even decided to do their first dance before the meal, inviting everyone up to dance. After that, the dance floor was never empty!
