Jenna and Steven’s Hilton Liverpool wedding story.

If you like Liverpool city centre weddings then you’ll love Jenna and Steven’s colourful Hilton Liverpool wedding photography story.

The newlyweds were looking for a documentary style of wedding photography and chose Wes Simpson Weddings because that is exactly my speciality.

By choosing me to photograph their day, the couple wasn’t away from their family and friends for too long. Nothing was too staged or over posed and every photo is a true insight into their wedding and a timeless reminder of the best day of their life.

Here is their Hilton Liverpool wedding photography story…

Jenna and Steven met online and have been together for 9 years. Their Hilton Liverpool wedding began with Jenna getting ready at the Hilton Liverpool with all the girls and her sister who gave her away. Jenna recall’s that there was such a relaxed vibe, even though she ran unusually late.

Jenna wore a Mori Lee Princess wedding dress with a cathedral length veil and scattered diamantes. The dress was from Natalie Ann Brides of Liverpool, who dressed the whole wedding party (all 19 of them!).

Jenna’s dream wedding gown was complemented with a pair designer Jimmy Choo shoes which added some sparkle to an elegantly simple dress, she looked perfect.

Once all the girls were ready, they travelled to the family church in the south of the city in a white Rolls Royce.

The ceremony took place at the couples local family church – St. Margaret Mary’s in Liverpool. The ceremony began with a beautiful reading and finished with them walking down the aisle and being showered with colourful confetti. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of smiles and lots of cheer.

It was a private and touching ceremony made extra special by The Priest who christened their children and conducted the funeral of Jenna’s grandfather.

It was really important to the couple that this priest conducted the ceremony, this was made even more special by the fact that it was to be the last wedding he did at the church as he left two days later.

On a personal note, I love the fact the couple didn’t have any decoration in the church as Jenna wanted it to be just as she remembered as a child; A beautiful traditional church with no needed additions.

After the ceremony, the newly married couple wanted some alone time and the chance to incorporate some aspects of the city of Liverpool into their wedding pictures. So on route to the Hilton Liverpool wedding reception we stopped off at the pier head on the famous Liverpool waterfront for a mini-photoshoot.

It’s always a fantastic honour capturing the first pictures of a newly married couple and I love street style photography, so this was extra fun. We incorporated some iconic Liverpool landmarks in the shots; The Royal Liver Buildings and The Beatles statues (this is a must if you’re visiting Liverpool).

Choosing me as their wedding photographer meant Jenna and Steven wasn’t away from their family and friends for too long. Nothing was staged or over posed. Every photo is a true insight into their wedding day and a timeless reminder of the best day of their life.

We then headed to over to Hilton Liverpool wedding venue, this was the perfect timing for me to get some candid photos of the guest relaxing and enjoying themselves before the wedding breakfast.

Jenna and Steven chose to have a Hilton Liverpool wedding because it’s the first place they ever stayed together and it’s where they always go on special date nights.

The Hilton Liverpool city centre is a modern hotel just stone’s throw away from the Liverpool One shopping complex. The hotel has a real party atmosphere (and is a good place for celebrity spotting).

For the wedding reception, the couple had planned drinks with canapés on arrival and live music for their guests, and everyone really enjoyed it – it also gave Jenna and Steven the time to speak to their guests and have some extra pictures taken. Everyone was then called in for the wedding breakfast, which was a 3-course meal.

They had speeches before the starter and main courses. Steven – The groom had dreaded his speech since the day he proposed. The father of the groom heckled the best man when he lost his way halfway through his speech and the sister of the bride had everyone both laughing and crying.

After the speeches, the guests were treated to the shock and surprise of ‘singing waiters.’ Jenna and Steven did a great job of keeping it a secret and gave all the guests something to talk about in the night!

After the speeches, the fun-loving Liverpool couple wanted to have 10 minutes to themselves before the night time guests arrived. This was the perfect opportunity to incorporate some unique wedding portraits of just the two of them.

Jenna and Steven are proud scousers and as they got married in the heart of the city they wanted some relaxed documentary style wedding photography of just them both, images that would showcase their personalities and the wedding location.

We headed out of Hilton Liverpool and down towards Liverpool One shopping complex, this resulted in Jenna the bride being serenaded on a street piano, some unique impromptu pictures and a few stories that they will be talking about for a lifetime.

As we headed back to the hotel Jenna presented her Groom with a beautiful Rolex watch. Steven had always dreamed of owning a precious timepiece so when Jenna stopped him in front of the water fountain outside the Hilton and handed him the iconic green box containing the Rolex watch, his reaction was priceless… or should that be *timeless!

The couple says if your planning a Hilton Liverpool Wedding or anywhere else in the world, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is don’t listen to what other people say, have what you want and spend what you want. As long as you have the day you want it will always be worth it.

Secondly, the only thing you have left after the day is your wedding pictures, so choose the right photographer.

BRIDES WORDS: “We would 100% recommended Wes. I love that our photographs reflect the day we had, they are not staged or with fake smiles. You can see the happiness in all our faces. We wanted a relaxed day and for it to be documented in photographs, so Wes was the perfect photographer. I definitely would and do recommend Wes to everyone and I can’t wait for him to photograph our vow renewal.”  – Jenna
