Lake District Wedding Photography

There are only a few places are more romantic than the Lake District and I always welcome the short 50-minute drive up the M6 to shoot weddings here. Steeped in natural beauty, majestic mountains, wild-grass moors and shimmering lakes make this iconic part of the world a wonderful setting for a truly memorable wedding day.

Natalie and John’s wedding story took place at The Laura Ashley Hotel which is just down the road from Bowness village in the heart of Bowness On Windermere in The Lake District. The Laura Ashley Hotel, also known as The Belsfield is a fashion and home furnishings inspired boutique hotel set inside a sophisticated Victorian mansion. The venue is surrounded by 6 acres of landscaped gardens which offer incredible views of Lake Windermere and provides a perfect backdrop for candid wedding photos of the guest and stunning scenery for portraits of the bride and groom.

There is also plenty of photographic opportunities once you venture inside the venue and discover the elegance of Laura Ashley. Each room showcases the signature style of this much-loved fashion and interiors brand, famed for its muted palette and timeless prints, right down to the carefully-chosen soft furnishings.

Wedding at Laura Ashley Hotel The Belsfield

Natalie and John’s day began with bridal preparations in the master bedroom of The Belsfield, which has a big bay window with a fantastic view of the lake. This made for an ideal location with lots of natural light for makeup preparations and for a picture perfect setting for Natalie to be stood when an emotional Dad came to collect her.

The couple were married in The Windermere suite which looks out directly over the lake. After the wedding ceremony, the guests sipped champagne in the glowing Lounge Bar, which takes pride of place in the centre of the hotel. It was a typical wet and rainy British summers day, so whilst a canapé selection was handed out in the drawing room, we headed into The Belsfield’s striking all-glass reception area for those all-important photos of the bride and groom with loved ones. As you can see from the pictures – it’s safe to say, the rain didn’t dampen the day and it was a real joy to photograph Natalie and John’s wedding at the Laura Ashley Hotel.
