Broadoaks Country House | Lake District Wedding

I always love photographing weddings in The Lake District and Broadoaks Country House is one of my favourite venues. It’s a beautiful boutique wedding venue set on seven-acre of grounds near Trout Beck, Windermere in The Lake District. This gallery is a preview of Jess and Davis’s wedding which was a small and intimate wedding allowing the couple to spend quality time with their guests. Over all they had a two day celebration which focused on fun and relaxation with 40 family members and close friends.

Jess and David are based in London and chose to have a Lake District Wedding because it was the destination of their first ever trip away as a young couple – upon returning to the lakes to scout for the perfect wedding venue they stumbled across Broadoaks Country House and completely fell in love with venue from the moment they saw it – a beautiful quaint country house with stunning views of the lakes was exactly what they wanted.

Jess wore a gorgeous Ronald Joyce gown with lots of lace and pearl details and an a-line skirt which she bought from a bridal shop in Liverpool. She had altered to make it a semi-sweetheart neck – so it’s officially one of a kind! Topped off with and a pair of bright blue shoes with bows on the back – to help her feel like a true princess.

When asked ‘what their favourite part of the wedding day was’, Jess replied – “It has to be the minute we locked eyes in the church, David’s face and reaction was priceless – such a perfect moment. The second best moment was simply stood in the field after we’d just got married. It was beautiful experiences to be able to just stop and look out across Lake Windermere and reflect on the fact that after months of planning we were officially husband and wife.”

The secluded gardens at Broadoaks Country House, the magical beck that runs through the grounds, the long sweeping drive-way and the Lake District scenery provided the perfect backdrop for both romantic photographs of the bride and groom and candid images of the guests.

If Jess and David had to choose just one picture from their wedding, they say – “It would probably be the jetty picture” – Jess remarked – “It is truly spectacular, plus the memories we have of taking it were brilliant – I just remember being in awe of the scenery, plus we were just so happy and laughing the whole time – it was so special and a fantastic suggestion by Wes to nip off and have some alone time together as the day goes so fast.”

Jess and David’s wedding pictures are proudly displayed in a beautiful storybook wedding album that they will cherish forever. When they came to collect the album I asked Jess if she had any advice for future Brides and Groom’s reading this, and her reply was –

“Try not to sweat the small stuff – it all works out on the day, so just make sure you enjoy it – and remember to take a minute or two during the day to simply stop and take it all in – we  both vividly remember sitting in the car and saying “oh my gosh – WE’RE MARRIED!!!”
