Kaylee and Daniel’s wedding story
from the beautiful West Tower Country House Wedding Venue in Aughton, Lancashire.
As a UK and destination wedding photographer it’s not often (these days) that I get asked to photograph a wedding on my doorstep; however The West Tower has long been one of my favourite wedding venues, not just because it’s local, but over the years I have got to know the venue very well and I’m on first name terms with all the staff members and the wedding co-ordinators have always kept me fed and watered on wedding days. For those that don’t know the venue, the West Tower is set in eight acres of rolling countryside just outside the market town of Ormskirk in Lancashire and it’s just a short drive from both the M57 & 58 motorways. It has been awarded ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ for three consecutive years and if you’re looking for a English Country House for your big day, the West Tower is one of the nicest places in Lancashire to say ‘I do.’

Hi, we are Kaylee Mather; from Billinge originally and Daniel Mather from Eccleston and we both now live in St Helens.
How did you guy’s meet? We met on a night out in St Helens (it was my 21st).
How did Daniel propose? – On Valentines day in Liverpool.
You got married at the beautiful West Tower in Aughton, Lancashire; what attracted you to this wedding venue? I loved the fact it was exclusive to us for the day.
What type of wedding did you plan and how many guests did you invite? It was a big wedding, we had 130 in the day plus another 60 at night.
How did you tame your wedding day nerves? – I was quite calm really – I just had champagne in the morning ☺
Who did you wear? Describe your dress and where and why did you buy it? I loved my dress I bought it because I felt like a princess in it, it had lots of detail on the top and was quite plain on the bottom, I added my own Swarovski buttons as I love a little bling ☺
What about your bridesmaid dresses and what did the guy’s wear? My Bridesmaids were in Navy with a silver detail strap and my guys where also in Navy Suits with Silver cravats.
What type of flowers did you choose and why? I chose white and Green Hydrangea’s along with Calla Lilies for the button holes and Orchids. I just wanted white and green flowers no colour as I think it looks classy and fresh looking.
What was the highlight of your wedding day? I love all of the day but it was seeing my dads face when he walked in the room for the first time and seeing me in my dress. Wes advised at the planning meeting that I get ready in plenty of time, it worked really well as it’s such a special moment and we all got to really enjoy it without it being rushed.
What one moment will last with you both forever? I think it would have to be walking down the isle and both seeing each-other in that moment before you make the biggest commitment to each other.
What do you love most about your wedding photographs and would you recommend Wes Simpson Weddings to photograph your friends and families big day?
Yes I would recommend Wes he was a pleasure to work with, my photographs are not like anyone else’s, they are so unique and different and that’s what I love about them.
What did you like most about working with Wes? He was down to earth, professional but friendly and did everything I asked – very helpful, he was a pleasure to work with ☺
What is your one favorite picture that Wes took and why? Its hard just to choose one as there are so many I love – but if I had to choose it would be my daughter looking up at my wedding dress – I just think it’s very unique and magical.
Do you have any advice for future brides or grooms reading this? Yes just be organized if you want your day to run smoothly.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Spending the rest of our lives together and extending our Family.
