An all WHITE WEDDING in Liverpool:

Wedding venue: Hilton Liverpool
Where and when did you and Paul meet?
We met when we both worked part time in ASDA in 2006. I was studying for my degree and Paul was in college. Not your average love story! Haha. We got engaged in 2011 after buying our first home together.
Why the Hilton in Liverpool as your wedding venue?
We were originally planning a destination wedding and getting married in a castle in Italy, we had flown out to Italy and arranged everything, but unfortunately my Granddad became ill. We had to make the choice of whether we wanted a wedding in our dream destination, or whether it was more important to have the people we love celebrating our special day with us – this was an easy choice to make as there was no way we could get married without our loved ones around us. We then began planning to have the wedding in Liverpool, everything seemed to fall in to place! The Hilton was available for the date we wanted and everything flowed from there on.
What dress did you wear?
Since I was a little girl I have always dreamed of the princess fairytale wedding with a sticky out dress. The first wedding dress shop I went to was Brides by Natalie on Eaton Road in Liverpool. As I pulled up to the shop there was a dress in the window which I instantly knew was “My dress”, I said to my mum “I bet that is the dress I get” and she agreed. We went into the shop and I instantly fell in love with it. I then went to a few different wedding shops and looked at dresses but my heart was set on that first dress.
The inspiration for my bridesmaid dresses came from my Nans wedding 50 years ago. When I was a little girl. My cousin, Nicola and I would look at the photos from our Nans wedding. I loved the short dresses. So when it was my turn to be the bride I knew I wanted to have short dresses that stuck out. As it is all girls in my family I had 11 (yes 11) bridesmaids, because there was so many of them I wanted the dresses to be relatively plain which is why I designed the dresses that way. They were perfect.
What type of day did you plan/have?
When we started to plan the wedding I chose the colour theme white. This was a bit of a hit or miss as I had never seen a fully white wedding before. I can now say this was a HIT as I loved everything about the day. We wanted the day to be full of fun, laughter and memories which it certainly was. There was a pianist singing when guests arrived to get everybody in the mood for the day. We had the singing waiters throughout the meal, this was a surprise to the guests and went down really well. We had the Motellas Motown band in the evening. We got our cake (which was amazing) from The Lemon Tree bakery is Southport. The flowers and room dressing was from Tamzyn Angela. If I could go back and change anything about the wedding day there would be nothing I could change as they day was perfect.
Why did you choose the wedding photographer Wes Simpson?
We had looked at different “average” photographers before we came across Wes Simpson. I was dress shopping with my Mum and asked the lady in the shop if she could recommend anyone- she showed me a few pictures that Wes had took from her own wedding and I instantly knew he was the photographer for us. I took his number and prayed that he had our date available, lucky for us he did. Wes is not your average photographer, he has passion and ambition about his profession and wants your photographs to be as fabulous as you do- and believe me they are!
Advice for future brides?
Be organized and plan ahead. Wes gave us a schedule/guide for getting the best from the day, it was a guide for us to follow (If we wanted) this had everything I needed, it was timed and planned out with useful examples from all the weddings he’s attended. I followed the schedule advice and my day flowed like clock work.
Enjoy your day. The day will go so fast so take some time to live in the moment and experience your day as it is happening.
Trust Wes. Wes is an expert and we placed our trust for our photos in him and what a result we have had. We have shown our album/slideshow to our family and friends and everyone has said that they have never seen an album like it before- it is absolutely amazing!!! We can not thank Wes enough for the memories of our day which we now have to cherish for a lifetime.
