“Four season’s in one day” – Katy and Jon’s wedding story from the West Tower wedding venue in Aughton Lancashire.

The morning of our wedding was surprisingly laid back considering the weather was monsoon style rain, and there were 7 bridesmaids and myself to get ready at my Mum and Dad’s house, however everyone was happy and chilled and enjoyed getting pampered! When we opened the door to rain bucketing down, I was a less than graceful bride getting into the car with my dress hitched up to stop it getting wet! My dress was an ivory lace Maggie Sottero ‘Sarchi’, with a very long train, and I wore a matching lace edged veil.
When we pulled up to the church I could hear the string trio playing inside. Wes took some lovely shots of my Dad helping me out the car that I will forever cherish. Walking down the aisle with my Dad was a lovely moment I will never forget! We had a full Catholic ceremony at SS Peter and Paul’s Church in Crosby. When it was time to walk out of the church to the Beatles ‘All you need is love’, Jon and I had no idea what the weather would be like, but when the doors opened, the sun was cracking the flags and it was a gorgeous moment! All of our lovely family and friends, and even some of my pupils and colleagues from school spilled out from the church all dressed to the nines!
Jon and I had some formal shots in the church with our close family, before heading to some scenic fields by The West Tower for some private shots of us. We found someone’s house sign nearby with our new surname on it too, so couldn’t resist having a photo there! Although there was a ridiculous amount of cornflies and wasps about, everyone had a gorgeous time sipping bellinis and beers on the patio of The West Tower Wedding Venue.
The weather was now perfect, and Wes took some absolutely incredible photos. We took some time out to speak to our guests and have a drink before the Wedding Breakfast. We also managed to have some photos in the amazing bridal suite. We wanted a timeless wedding, so our colour scheme was pale pink and ivory, and the overall theme was more about wedding traditions. My Dad, Jon and the best man, Brad did excellent speeches, which were emotional, hilarious and heartfelt. Whilst we were eating, the rain hammered down again! Luckily it stopped just in time for more photos! After that it decided to thunder, but the crazy weather provided the most beautiful sky ever which looks magical in the photos.
Our first dance was Christina Perri ‘Thousand Years’ and then I danced with my Dad before the bridal party dance. It was the most incredible and perfect day of our lives and we will cherish every moment forever! The photos Wes has taken are everything we hoped for, capturing the special little moments and details of the day, which to some could go unnoticed!
To top off my wedding experienced the wedding venue West Tower asked Wes if they could use one of the pictures from our big day for their 2015 advertisement, I was delighted to see myself and my husband Jon in print in the New Year issue of Lancashire Life magazine spread across Page 268
“WES! A huge thank you for playing a huge role in our wedding and taking our photos yesterday! The pictures look incredible, they are simply perfect in every way! Even in the extreme weather conditions we had in the morning, and four season weather changes throughout the day, you have managed to capture images which we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We cannot wait to see the rest of them! I’m in love with them – they are just out of this world! Thank you so, so much! Love from, Katy and Jon, the new Mr and Mrs Bowers x” 2015 · Liverpool.
